Skills for Business: Enterprise Level 2 at Eastleigh College
The Level 2 Skills for Business: Enterprise programme is ideally suited for those with a genuine interest in business enterprise, but who also have the ability and determination to succeed on this academic programme.
This programme provides students with an opportunity to gain an insight into the wide and diverse nature of this growing sector. The programme retains a strong academic base, whilst including practical units and modules.
You will need to be confident, self- motivated and a good communicator as this will stand you in good stead for your research work, as well as your work placement.
You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also learn about the employment area you have chosen, and you develop the skills you need to start a career.
Students will develop both knowledge and understanding of the business enterprise industry, as well as develop important practical and organisational skills to support their progression.
The programme is made up of a variety of practical and theoretical units from the wide nature of this growing sector. Each unit is worth a number of credits which will make up your final grade. The following are a sample of the units (this may vary each year):
- Business Culture and responsibilities
- Producing documents in a business environment
- Working with others in a business environment
- Contributing to running a project
- Business enterprise
- Delivering customer service in a business environment
- Enterprise in the workplace
- Innovation in a business environment
- Communicating in a business environment
- Solving problems in a business environment
All students are expected to organise a relevant work placement each year, with our support.
In addition to this, they are expected to help voluntarily at college enrichment, events around the college and with the local community.
All students without an A*-C grade in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.
Attendance in the College is an average of 16 hours per week of contact time. In addition to this, it is expected for students to complete a further 8-12 hours of independent study both in college and at home.
- You require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A*-D.
- You should also demonstrate a good attendance and attainment reports from your previous school or college and complete a successful college interview.
Assessment is throughout the year for both practical and theory units using a variety of assessment methods and styles. Each assignment will be graded at Pass level and contributes to the unit and overall course grade.
Each of the units will have assignments. These assignments may be reports, presentations, practical assessments or research projects.
To progress onto Level 3 Business Enterprise and Event Management, students will be interviewed to determine their suitability.
Future career and progression routes upon completion of this programme can be into accountancy, marketing, human resources, logistics, law and administration. Students could progress on to specific programmes related to areas of interest, or directly into industry.
On successful completion of Level 2 Skills for Business: Enterprise students will have the opportunity to apply for Level 3 or seek advice of other programme options and employment.
There is an expectation for all business enterprise students to help out at college open events and fund raising opportunities, both at college and within the local community.
