Course description

BTEC National Certificate/ Subsidary Diploma/ Diploma level 3

BTEC qualifications give students the skills they need to either move on to higher education or go straight into employment. They are valued by colleges, universities, employers and professional bodies across the United Kingdom and recognised throughout over 85 countries worldwide. They also carry UCAS points in a similar way to A level courses. 

Students have to undertake a number of core and specialised optional units for which they present evidence, based on real life work and studies for coursework and practical assessment. This allows them to demostrate their skill and knowledge in a variety of forms. 

Course content

The BTEC certificate will take 1 option block and is equivalent to 1 A level (grade C - D), the BTEC subsidiary diploma will take 1 option block and is equivalent to 1 A level (grade A*). The diploma (90 credit) will take place over two option blocks.

Qualification Requirements

  • To acheive the certificate, learners will take 3 units.
  • To acheive the subsidiary diploma learners will take 6 units.
  • To achieve the diploma learners will take 9 units.

  • Performance workshop
  • Performing to an audience
  • Dance performance 
  • Choreographing dance
  • The healthy performer
  • Urban dance/ Jazz dance
  • Applying contemporary dance technique
  • Site specific performance 
  • Marketing for the performance arts

Entry requirements

You need to acheive a minimum of 4 A*-C's at GCSE to take this course and good literacy scores.
