Spanish AS/A2 Level at Alexandra Park School
Building on the language and skills you have developed at GCSE, you will continue to study your chosen language through 4 topic areas. You will develop your language skills and your ability to express your opinions, argue, convince and discuss in a foreign language. You will find the following topic areas both challenging and relevant to the world we live in.
- Option 1: Students wanting to gain an A-level will study 4 units over 2 years and sit their exams at the end of the 2 year course (year 13).
- Option 2: Students who decided to take their exams at the end of their first year (year 12), have gained their AS qualification and wish to continue to gain their A-level will continue to study units 3 and 4 in year 13 and sit the final exams at the end of year 13. These final exams cover ALL 4 units.
- Option 3: Students wanting to gain an AS qualification only will study 2 units over 1 year and sit their exams at the end of the year (year 12
Students must have at least grade B or above at GCSE Spanish.
Almost any chosen career path will be enhanced by further study of a foreign language. Examples include accounting, engineering, law, business and management, tourism, aviation, the civil service, the arts and hospitality. It will vastly improve your prospects in the increasingly global community in which we live.
There are some jobs and industries that may require you to have a good knowledge of a foreign language. These include: Travel and tourism; translating and interpreting; teaching; working in international organisations; international journalism.
