A Level: English Language and Literature at Saint Paul's Catholic School
This course encourages students to develop as independent readers and writers of a variety of types of text. Literacy, non-literary and spoken language texts are studied and students produce their own work for a variety of audiences and purposes. As with the literature course, there is an extensive amount of reading involved, and if students do no enjoy reading for pleasure at home there is little point in beginning the course.
5 A* - C grades at GCSE including at least grade C in both English and English Literature.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 in English Language and Literature, which could lead onto higher education. With further training, you could go into a job related to English Language and Literature Studies. This qualification will also help you develop general skills that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
