Course description

This course  is placed in context towards the application of science in industry, the health service and everyday life, but also covers traditional topics from biology, chemistry and physics.

Unit G620 Science at Work - Mandatory unit

Unit G627 Investigating Scientist’s Work - Mandatory Unit

Unit G621 Analysis at Work - Mandatory unit

Unit G635 Working Waves - Optional Unit

Unit G622 Monitoring the activity of the Human Body - Mandatory unit

Unit G634 Applications of Biotechnology - Optional Unit

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE (or equivalent ) passes at A*-C including science. Grade A* - C pass in Mathematics is also recommended.

 

Assessment

 

Future opportunities

Progression into higher education or employment.  Typical courses include Health and Safety in the Workplace, Social Science, Environmental Science, Nursing, Physiotherapy etc.  The skills learnt are also applicable to further studies in Geography, Physical Education and Design Technology, as well as Financial and Business Studies.  Others go directly into employment with training.
