Performing Arts AS/A2 at St John Bosco Arts College

Course description

Performing Arts A level at St John Bosco is a course designed specifically for performers. In the workshop sessions, you will study a variety of scripts ranging from traditional to contemporary. There are many opportunities to be involved in extra-curricular projects and enhance your performance skills. In addition, this course provides an insight into the performing arts industry, giving students a realistic understanding of the world of performing arts.

Assessment

Year 12 AS – You will complete three units.

Unit 1 – Professional practice Skills Development – Two pieces in progress and one complete. Assessed through portfolio and recordings.

Unit 2 – Professional Practice Performance - A live performance observed by an external examiner.

Unit 3 – The Performing Arts Industry – Assessed through portfolio of written evidence looking into different sectors within the Performing Arts Industry.


Year 13 A2 – You will complete three units.

Unit 4 - Exploring Repertoire – Two complete live performances. Assessed through portfolio and recordings.

Unit 5 – Getting Work – Research job opportunities within Performing Arts Industry. Assessed through a written portfolio

Unit 6 – Producing your showcase – Creating work to perform for an external examiner.
