Travel and Tourism - Level 3 BTEC Diploma at Middlesbrough College

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma is a specialist Travel and Tourism work related qualification and students will gain knowledge, understanding and the skills they need to prepare for employment in the Travel and Tourism Industry.

Course content

For the Diploma you will complete 120 credits over two years, whilst for the Extended Diploma you will complete 180 credits over two years. You will study a range of units including:- Investigating the Travel and Tourism Industry The UK as a Destination Resort Representatives Working in the Travel and Tourism Industry Long-haul Travel Destinations Entertainment for Holidaymakers

Entry requirements

To gain entry to this course you must possess a Level 2 Diploma in Travel & Tourism with a Merit or Distinction grade, or four or more GCSE's at Grade C or above including English (or an equivalent qualification e.g. Level 2 English) and Maths. Two other subjects such as Geography, Science or History or other equivalent qualifications are also acceptable to the College. You must also undertake a successful interview and provide a satisfactory reference. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."


Internal assessments will be carried out in a variety of ways including assignments, role plays and presentations.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you can progress directly into relevant employment within the travel and tourism industry. OR Apply for a Higher Education course. Such as the FDA in Travel and Aviation, Travel and Tourism Management which you can then progress onto an honorary degree or into management. The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for University we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.
