Electrical Installation Level 1 Diploma at Havering College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

You will take part in both practical and theory sessions as you develop an understanding of how to work accurately and safely in the workplace.

Throughout the course you will cover the following topics:

  • Wiring and Terminals
  • Fabrication Techniques
  • Electrical Science and Technology
  • Structure of the Construction Industry
  • Environmental and Sustainability Measures in Domestic Dwellings
  • Site Preparation in the Construction Industry

If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).

Entry requirements

GCSE grade D or above in English & maths

Assessment

There are no exams tied to this course and you will be assessed via practical and written assignments throughout the year.

Future opportunities

You could progress onto one of our level 2 courses in electrical installation.

Employment opportunities could include junior work in the industry. It should be noted that a level 2 qualification or higher is recommended for those seeking employment in this sector.
