Animal Management Y1 Of 2 L3 Ext Diploma at North Lindsey College

Course description

This course deals with the principles of animal care and the practices found within the animal care industry. It is primarily a theoretical course, but it does include some practical involvement with animals and work within the animal care industry. The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels. This course is generally studied over two years.

Course content

You will study the following: 
- Animal Nursing
- Business
- Investigative Project
- Animal Nutrition
- Breeding and Genetics
- Wildlife rehabilitation

Entry requirements

You will typically have a minimum 5 GCSE's A* - C including maths and English. At least one GCSE should be a Science.


Assessment is an ongoing process throughout the course. It will take the form of assignments, practical sessions, laboratory testing and presentations. 

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Extended Diploma it is possible to progress into higher education to study Animal Management or Animal Science. Alternatively, successful learners may apply directly for employment in such areas as kennels and catteries, pet shops, grooming parlours, animal breeding establishments, animal sanctuaries, stables, veterinary centres, animal collections and wildlife parks.
