Media Level 2 Diploma at Banbury and Bicester College

Course description

Study a range of media production techniques including video, radio and print and learn skills in audio computer and animation technology on this one-year diploma in media. The course helps you to build your media knowledge through practical work and projects in preparation both for work and further study.

Course content

There are four core units: 
• research for creative media production
• communication techniques for creative media production
• the creative media sector
• media audiences and products

There are specialist units too. They include:
• video production
• writing for the creative media 
• advertising production 
• creative media production (please note that these are subject to change)

You work closely with performing arts students too. You also study a functional skill and have the opportunity to retake GCSE maths and English if required.

Individual learning targets are set each term and you receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets. Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments which are set at regular intervals throughout the course. 
The functional skills course in English maths or ICT is assessed by an external exam.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade D (including English and maths) related work experience, other related level 1 or 2 qualifications. 
If you have grades outside the entry requirements, you are still welcome to apply.
Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Future opportunities

You could progress to the Creative Media Production BTEC Extended Diploma at the college or another related level 3 qualification.

      • Continue down A422 and leave roundabout onto A361, Southam Road. Turn left on A361 (Southam Road) on to Horse Fair.
      • Leave the roundabout onto B4035, West Bar Street. Follow West Bar Street on to Broughton Road and the main entrance to the campus is on the right hand side.

      The Banbury Campus is approximately 15-20 minutes walk from the train and bus station.
