 Essential: GCSE grade A*-B in History and GCSE grade A*-B in English.

Assessment

AS Course 2041

50% Component 1: Breadth Study (exam)

  1. The study of significant historical developments over a period of around 50 years and associated historical interpretation e.g. Tsarist and Communist Russia, 1855- 1917.

50% Component 2: Depth Study (exam)

  1. The study of a major historical change or development and associated primary evidence e.g. The Making of Modern Britain, 1951-2079.

A2 Course 2042

40% Component 1: Breadth Study (exam)

  1. The study of significant historical developments over a period of around 50 years and associated historical interpretation e.g. Tsarist and Communist Russia, 1855- 1964.

40% Component 2: Depth Study (exam)

  1. The study of a major historical change or development and associated primary evidence e.g. The Making of Modern Britain, 1951-2007.

30% Component 3:

  1. A personal study based on a 100 year time period.
  2. Assessed: 3,000 – 3,500 word essay.

Future opportunities

Many A Level History students go on to study the subject at University and follow varied career paths including journalism, teaching and the Civil Service.
