Extended Project Qualification at Anglo European School
This is a stand-alone qualification that we offer in the Sixth Form which is equivalent to an AS level in terms of UCAS points. The course gives the students an opportunity to explore in depth an aspect of a subject they are studying, or a topic in which they have a personal interest.
The topic for the project is chosen by the student and agreed by the student’s teacher, who then acts as his or her supervisor. The student has to show that they can; plan, deliver and present. This final piece of work is in the region of 4,000 words but can be fewer if the EPQ is based on an artefact/competition/event etc. Previous titles that students have investigated are:
None. However interested students are expected to produce an in-depth proposal when the qualification is launched during the Lower Sixth and prove that they are able to manage the EPQ alongside their existing studies.
Students are assessed on what they produce and the ability to follow due process during the course. Study skills and organisation are paramount. The three elements of the assessment are: a production log, a presentation of your findings to a non specialist audience and a final essay about 4000 words long.
