Course description

The course is intended for those who want to improve their electrical knowledge in order to gain entry into the electrical and building services engineering industry.

Course content

Health and safety in building services engineering
Principles of electrical science
Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology
Electrical installations: fault diagnosis and rectification
Electrical installations: inspection and testing
Electrical systems design
Career awareness in building services engineering

Entry requirements

All applicants will be given an aptitude test and on successful completion, will be given an interview to discuss application. A level 2 qualification in electrical installation (2365-02).

You will need to demonstrate motivation and a keen interest in the Electrical and Building Services Engineering industry.


The assessments will consist of on-line tests to be completed and passed at the end of each unit. There will also be a practical task manual to be completed in the workshop throughout the year

Future opportunities

You can progress onto the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
