The motor vehicle industry needs professionals in a wide variety occupations from garage and shop floor positions to technical development. It’s also a sector in constant need of bright young people committed to building their careers around cars.
On this course you’ll be taught through a mix of theory and practice, with continual assessment culminating in an IMI examination at the end of the year.
You’ll be practising your skills on a variety of cars to develop an in depth knowledge of motor vehicle systems, repair, construction, and associated skills. Our motor vehicle engineering workshops are well resourced and kitted out with industry-standard equipment including high-spec computerised diagnostic tools.
Qualified staff have a wealth of trade and industrial knowledge which they’re keen to pass on. To ensure you are prepared for the future – whether that’s employment or further study – you’ll also complete GAP work experience and develop your English and maths.
Successful completion of Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance, plus a range of relevant assessments at interview.
Study for two years on day release from an employer to complete the NVQ Level 2/3 in Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems. With continued study you could be looking at a career across a range of specialisms: vehicle servicing, repair and renovation, brakes and exhaust fitting, breakdown services, MOT testing, servicing management.
