Mathematics A level at Wolsingham School

Course description

The mathematics department strives to ensure that all students fulfil their full mathematical potential, by ensuring that high expectations are set for all students, and by assisting students in acquiring the ability to think mathematically, reason, and solve problems in a range of contexts.
The study of Mathematics is an essential prerequisite to many areas of study and leads to a large number of possible employment opportunities. In this course you will build upon your existing knowledge of Mathematics.

The topics studied include trigonometry, algebra, statistics and mechanics and where possible topics will be studied within the context of real-life problems.

Students considering Maths, Sciences or medicine at University should take Further Maths.

Students will study the MEI AS/A Level Syllabus.

Course content

AS Maths

Modules studied include two Core Maths Modules C1 and C2 together with either Statistics S1 or Mechanics M1.

A2 Maths

Modules studied include two Core Maths Modules C3 and C4 together with either Statistics S1 or Mechanics M1.
