BTEC First Certificate/Diploma in Art & Design at The Parker E-act Academy

This fast-paced course gives you the opportunity to develop your interests in Art & Design and build confidence in your own abilities. You will be guided and supported throughout the course, which is based on project work and regular assessment. You will explore a diverse range of specialisms within Art & Design including drawing, fine art, textiles and graphic design and work in a range of media and materials from charcoal to electronic media.

The aim of the course is to help you decide which area of Art & Design you want to specialise in and to prepare you for entry onto specialist A Levels, National Diplomas or employment. At the end of the course, you will write and complete a final major project in your chosen field and mount an exhibition of your work.

In all project work there is an emphasis on developing literacy and numeracy skills and an opportunity to study GCSE English if necessary.

Entry requirements

You should have achieved four GSCEs at grade E or above, BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art, Design and Media at merit level or above.

Future opportunities

Progression to BTEC National Diplomas, AS Levels, or employment.
