Course description

Health and Social Care level 1 is an introduction to the skills,
qualities and knowledge needed to work in the Health, Social Care
and Early Years Sectors. It is a stepping stone to studying at level
2. In this course you will find out about physical, emotional and
social health needs and how different factors can affect your health.
You will find out how the needs of people change throughout their
lives and the health and social care available for individuals. The
course will give you an understanding of the personal care needs of
individuals and the practical and personal qualities required to be
a good carer. You will examine your own health and how it can be
influenced by the sort of work you do. Finally you explore different
recreational activities that you can do with individuals in your care.
All students will also study for the all-important functional skills
of literacy and numeracy. All students will have tutorial input and
individual target setting.

Portfolio building and assignments.

Employment, Training Organisations, further study.

Further information

Study will be over 2.5 - 3 days and may include opportunity for
work experience placement where appropriate. External visits and
educational trips may occur in the year and a small contribution will
be requested.
