Barbering Level 2 Award at Buxton & Leek College

Course description

This course is the gateway to working in a barbershop or in other sectors and industries with the need for a barber such as entertainment and media, travel or fashion. You’ll learn your skills in our commercial hair salons. The course is tailored to meet students’ needs and it a solid starting point for learners starting out in the male grooming industry. Learners are encouraged to undertake a work placement in a barbers or unisex salon. 

The course offers units in: 

• Cutting men’s hair 

• Shaping facial hair 

• Creating hair tattoos 

• Client advice 

• Treatment of hair and the scalp 

• Drying men’s hair into shape. 

Entry requirements

There are not entry requirements for this course. You’ll be invited to an interview and will have an assessment as part of the interview process.

Future opportunities

You’ll be able to progress onto the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Barbering.
