Hospitality Multi-skills Level 1 at Isle of Wight College

Course description

The course is for people who want to pursue their careers in the catering industry and will be able to make choices, with the necessary qualifications to support those choices. The course will cover both front of house theory and kitchen skills, and various aspects of hotel and restaurant operations.

Course content

Students will all study:

  • Introduction to Hospitality
  • Food preparation
  • Food  cooking
  • Food service
  • Providing a table and tray service
  • Customer service
  • Healthy eating

Entry requirements

You will need to have a least one of the following:

  • Other related entry level qualifications
  • 3 GCSE’S at grades E or above including English Language and Maths
  • References and a successful interview

Financial information

Full Catering Uniform is required at approximately £250

Future opportunities

A level 1 in Hospitality prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as:

  • Edexcel BTEC level 2 Diploma in Hospitality
  • NVQ Level 2 in multi-skills
  • Employment at a operative level in Hospitality
  • Apprenticeship at level 2 in the work place
