Applied Law Diploma at Bridlington School Sports College

Course description

In Year 12, students focus on key aspects of how the court structure works, the ways in which Law is made and elements of substantive civil and criminal law in the form of negligence and non-fatal offences to the person. The 3 mandatory (compulsory) units are:

* Dispute Solving in the Legal System
* Understanding Law-making
* Aspects of Legal Liability

In Y13 the 3 units studied are:

* Unlawful Homicide and Police Powers
* Aspects of Property Offences
* Police Powers and Consumer Law

Entry requirements

The basic course entry requirement is 5 grade 'C' passes or above at GCSE plus a Grade C or higher in GCSE English Language. A Grade C or higher in GCSE History is an advantage, but not compulsory.

There is a substantial amount of reading and writing required and students must be prepared for this when they enter the course.
