Music Technology Level 3 Diploma at Doncaster College
The Diploma in Music Technology is a one year course designed to introduce you to the skills needed to become a sound engineer.
You will learn how to use music technology to create audio and visual products.
All activities will be underpinned by a core knowledge of operational skills and professional practice. The course is equivalent to 1.5 A levels.
The course is made up of practical and theory projects and workshops giving learners the opportunity to expand their horizons within the field of Music.
Assignments on the course vary in timescale and type depending on the nature of the project.
The Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology is a 9 unit qualification (achieved in year one only).
- 5 GCSEs grades A*-C
- or First Diploma in Music Level 2 at Merit
- All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview
- All students should be prepared to answer questions about their musical interests and experiences at interview. Copies of previous musical works would also be advantageous.
Functional skills are embedded throughout the course, you may be required to take an exam and/or complete a portfolio to achieve these.
The course is assessed continuously with critiques at the end of each project.
Many students will progress on to degree level courses such as the BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology at University Centre Doncaster.
Opportunities exist to enter the Creative Industries at a Junior Level but further study would be recommended to achieve employment in many job roles including studio engineer, producer and live sound engineer.
