French A Level at Princes Risborough School

Course description

If you have enjoyed studying French at GCSE and would like to increase your knowledge and understanding of the French language by building on your existing level, this course is for you.If you are interested in languages, in the culture of France and French-speaking countries and would like to improve your fluency, this course is also for you. If you are thinking of continuing with French in Higher education, this course is definitely for you!

Universities often look for students with an extra language and it will enable you to compete with other nationals on the job market. You will learn a great deal about your own language at the same time.

AREAS OF STUDY:

All four skills are assessed (Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing) through 4 units: 2 in AS, 2 in A2

AS TOPICS: Media, Health & Lifestyle, Popular culture, Family and Relationships A2 TOPICS: Multicultural society, Contemporary social issues, Environment & a cultural topic (through Art, History, Geography, Literature…) 

Entry requirements

B grade or above at GCSE in French. Personal reading, listening and research will be required as well as plenty of hard work!
