AS Physical Education at The Beacon School

Course description

Theoretical content makes up 70% of the exam weighting and includes a study of anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition and a contemporary study of sport in society. A practical performance grade is required in two activities as either a performer, official or coach.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Science or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Physical Education, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Sport Studies, Recreation, Exercise and Science or more general higher education courses. With further training you could go into a job related to Physical Education such as a Physiotherapist, Teacher or Exercise and Fitness Trainer. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the Sporting and Health Sectors.
