BTEC Applied Science at Holyhead

This course demands a high level of organisational skills. In the main units you will be learning “Practicing highly skilled techniques”, then producing detailed reports which include evaluations and suggestions for future improvements. In order to achieve this you must be analytical, pay attention to detail and ensure that you work to deadlines.
Unit 1 - Fundamentals of Science - (10 credits)
Unit 2 - Working in the Science industry – (10 credits)
Unit 3 - Scientific practical techniques – (10 credits)
A minimum of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE including English, Maths and Core Science
This course is worth 30 credits and is achieved by a series of portfolios worked on throughout the year which are marked at Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.
The Level 3 Certificate is broadly equivalent to 1 GCE AS Level.
There are opportunities to attend Master classes and 'Taster Days' at some of the local universities. Spectroscopy in a suitcase visit us at Holyhead School.
