Biology at Wimbledon College

Course description

This course needs a questioning critical approach, good powers of observation and a real interest in the subject.Those with a scientific leaning are at an advantage because biology uses Mathematics and relates to the laws of Physics and Chemistry, hut the syllabus also aims to stand by itself. Practical assessments will be set throughtout and some time spent at a residential field centre.

Entry requirements

To follow the advanced Level 3 route you must have 5 or more GCSEs at Grade C or above. You just have Grade B in the AS level subject options you wish to study or Grade C in applied subject options.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses, which overlap with Biology such as Chemistry, Applied Science, Physics, Geography, Geology or more general subjects that may not relate to the sciences, to prepare for higher education. With further training, you could go into a job related to Biology or one of the other sciences such as a Doctor, Nurse, Scientist or Marine Biologist. The course will also help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
