Geography A Level at The Holt School

Course description

AS Level (Year 12)
Unit 1: Physical and Human Geography
Rivers and flood management, coastal environments, population change, food supply issues.
Assessment: examination based 70% AS, 35% A Level
Unit 2: Geographical Skills
These skills include: investigation, cartographic, graphical, ICT and statistical.
Assessment: examination based 30% AS, 15% A Level
A2 Level (Year 13)
Unit 3: Contemporary Geographical Issues
Plate tectonics, weather and climate, world cities, conflict and challenges.
Assessment: examination based 30% A Level
Unit 4B: Geographical Issue Evaluation
This unit gives the students the opportunity to extend their skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
They will receive an advanced information booklet, two months before the examination date, upon which
the examination will be based.
Assessment: examination based 20% A Level

Entry requirements

grade B at GCSE.
