Information and Creative Technology - BTEC Level 2 at Merrill Academy

Course description

In completing this course you will learn the skills that are essential for success in employment and further education. You will undertake a variety of units that will enable you to develop their ICT skills, apply those skills to new situations and to become even more confident and capable ICT users.

Course content

8 units including:

Unit 1 - Understanding computer systems

Unit 2 - Using ICT to create business solutions

Unit 3 - Handling data using spreadsheets

Unit 5 - Creating an interactive product using multimedia components

Unit 9 - Exploring computer hardware and networks

Assessment

4 units of work:

Three are assessed internally and are also internally and externally verified. 1 unit is an online examination in the summer. Lessons ensure that you learn the theory required to be applied to your project work. Group work, individual learning, case studies, video clips and discussion all ensure a broad understanding and application to enable you to work to your target grades.

Future opportunities

This qualification can lead to a range of roles such as Data Entry Clerk, Assistant Technician, office and administration jobs.

Successful completion of the course will allow you to progress to BTEC L3 IT. You must also have completed GCSE Maths, English Grade C.
