Course description

History at AS Level is a highly stimulating and rewarding experience which offers a fantastic
opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of British and European History.
Through studying the past, students arrive at a far better understanding of present day issues in
the modern world.

History also enables students to develop many of the key skills identified by both University
Admissions tutors and the country’s leading employers as vital to academic success and
career progression. These include independent research, analytical communication and
problem-solving skills. Above all, AS Level History enhances students’ ability to become life-long
learners by not only encouraging continual reflection of their own performance, but also through
stressing the importance of working responsibly with others.

Entry requirements

. Grade C in English, and a History GCSE Grade C is preferable.
