As / A2 Level Biology at St Michael's Catholic High School

Course description

Aims of the course:
To allow students to develop an interest in Biology, particularly in relation to related careers.
To appreciate how Biology contributes towards the economy and society.
To develop a deeper knowledge of how science works.
To develop a deeper knowledge of the scope of Biology and how different areas interrelate with each other. In A2 students will attend a field trip to allow for the collection of data for their coursework.

Course content:
This course involves both a theoretical and a practical approach. Relevant theory is reinforced where possible through experimentation. A large emphasis is placed on exam technique and past paper practice, which allows students to understand the requirement of both the course and its examinations.

Entry requirements

Grade A or A* in Biology at GCSE
