Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in IT at The Chase School

Course description

If you like the ‘hands on’ approach to learning, this is your opportunity to take a practical course that will give you both the skills you need to kick-start your career and also a nationally recognised qualification which attracts UCAS points and enables you to progress to Higher Education.

The course is delivered by well-qualified, enthusiastic and friendly ICT/Computing teachers and offers a clear route into employment or Higher Education. Study is work-related and addresses the key knowledge and practical skills required in the ICT/Computing sector.

It is equivalent to one GCE A Level and comprises 6 units. Assessment is based on coursework, enabling you to achieve the specific learning goals set out by the exam board. Completion of the two core units plus one other unit can lead to the award of a Level 3 BTEC Certificate in IT, equivalent to an AS level.

The course covers a wide range of topics and a selection of the available modules is:

* Computer Systems
* Website Development Maintaining Computer Systems
* Software Design and Development Digital Graphics
* Computer Networks.

Entry requirements

To be accepted on the course students need to have 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics.
