Health & Social Care - Applied GCE Single Award at Imberhorne School

Course description

The course offers the chance to experience many differentaspects of the care sector. You will discover the importanceof good communication and the correct way to treat theservice users. You will be expected to go out into thecommunity to carry out research with different client groups.You will be required to go to an early years settng and teacha short lesson to a group of children aged between 0 and 8years.

It offers you the opportunity to study the needs of youngchildren through to older people. You will learn through avariety of different methods, namely interviewing people,putting together case studies, listening to outside speakersand putting on presentations. The course will enable you togain self‐confidence, learn the benefits of teamwork,improve your ICT and research skills and gain furtherqualifications. You will be expected to take part in a smallnumber of exercise classes as part of the work that looks athealthy lifestyle promotion.

Entry requirements

You will need four A‐C grades at GCSE. You must have a grade C in English Language and a grade C in Science. These do not have to include GCSE Health and Social Care but if you have studied it at Key stage 4 it will obviously help you.
