Physical Education BTEC level 2 at Edmonton County School
If you interested in Sport and fitness and are keen to learn in a modular way, this is the course for you. It would be of particular interest in you did not do GCSE/BTEC Sport previously but wished you had! You will experience a range of theory and practical lessons as well as developing your knowledge of different roles in sport. Very useful if you would like to go on to be a coach in the sport or fitness industry.
Unit 1: Fitness for Sport and Exercise: A look at the different physical and skill related fitness components required to perform different activities and different ways to test fitness. This Unit also looks at different types of training.
Unit 2: Practical Sports Performance: Focus on the performance, rules, regulations, scoring systems and officials of different sports.
Unit 4: The Sports Performer in Action: Studying what happens to the body during exercise, as well as the long term effects of taking part in regular physical exercise.
Unit 5: Training for Personal Fitness: Setting personal goals and carrying out your own fitness programme.
You will need 5 A*-E grades at GCSE or Passes at Level 2 BTEC
Unit 1 is assessed by way of an external exam and is a mixture of multiple choice questions and longer written answers. The test is performed online in controlled conditions.
Units 2, 4 and 5 are assessed internally by way of written coursework.
You could go on to enroll on the Level 3 BTEC Diploma course offered at Edmonton County.
