Business Studies EDEXCEL Level 3 Subsidiary/Extended Diploma at Northbrook College Sussex

Course description

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.


Four Core Units:

  • The Business Environment
  • Business Resources
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Business Communications


Specialist Units:
Selected units which will cover these aspects:

  • Retail
  • Human Resources
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Business Communications
  • Team Working
  • Accounts
  • Law


Units have been chosen that interlink and are vocationally relevant, allowing you to develop a range of business skills. You will be assessed by a range of methods including reports, presentations and practical tasks working on projects for the local community.

Entry requirements

To start on this course you need:


Either
Four GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Maths 
or
a relevant Level 2 qualification with a Merit profile and full achievement of appropriate Functional Skills qualifications.


(If you will not have the above qualifications, you may be able to start on the Level 2 course before applying to move on to this Level 3 course.)

Assessment

The scheme of work and assignment programme for each unit is designed by individual specialist teaching staff and is based on Edexcel’s unit specifications. The student is given the opportunity to produce work that meets Pass, Merit or Distinction criteria. Students are given feedback on their performance throughout the course so that they can achieve the necessary standards. All work will be assessed internally and externally moderated.

Future opportunities

After 1 year you can achieve a BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business. Some students will seek employment but most will apply for the Extended Diploma course (below).


After 2 years you can achieve a BTEC Extended Diploma in Business. This is equivalent to 3 A Levels and means you can either apply for university level courses or seek employment.
