CACHE Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF) at Simply One Stop Ltd

Course description

This qualification provides learners with the first aid skills they need to enter into the children’s workforce - either when working in a children’s setting or in a domestic environment. It covers the more common illnesses that occur in children as well as the types of incidents and accidents that could happen. Learners will also learn how to deal with these situations in a safe and appropriate manner.

Qualification Structure To achieve the qualification learners will need to complete both of these units:

  • Paediatric emergency first aid
  • Managing paediatric illness and injury

Total credit value 2.

Both these units are also mandatory in the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF). If learners have completed the units as part of Level 2 Certificate, they can request a separate certificate showing that they have accomplished the Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid. A small certification fee will apply as outlined in our QCF fees list.

The qualification will be pass or refer and is internally assessed. Some elements of the qualification must be assessed by observing the learner in practical demonstrations on infant and child manikins. This would cover CPR, dealing with severe chocking and recovery positions. The knowledge based elements do not have to be practically assessed and could include:

• Professional discussion • Written assignments • Multiple choice questions
QRN number: 600/0187/2
