Further Mathematics A Level at Bridgwater College

Course description

Further Mathematics is a course designed for maths students who wish to broaden their mathematical skills and experience maths beyond the standard A level. It develops your maths skills in many cases in totally new directions and so is for you, if you want a more in depth knowledge of this amazing subject.

Course content

Topics of study include:

  • Further trigonometry
  • Algebra
  • Roots of polynomials
  • Graphing rational functions
  • Complex numbers
  • Statistics
  • Mechanics

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade C and above; a grade A or above in Maths is essential.

A Level Further Mathematics is highly valued by employers in a wide range of industries as evidence of your ability to solve problems and learn new skills. Many of our students go on to study courses with a high mathematical content at University, such as engineering, finance, mathematics, computing and so on. Some students choose to apply for apprenticeships.
