Music Technology at Cottingham High School

Course description

The course involves the study of all forms of popular music since 1910, but with an emphasis on the use of music technology. It will include instruction in the art of recording and manipulating sound in a variety of different situations and utilising a variety of different resources. ICT skills are developed through this therefore it is not necessary that you have used music technology before.

The course will teach you how to produce a high quality multi - track recording of a known pop song utilising a variety of recording techniques and effects and also how to sequence material using a computer and appropriate software. In addition, you will develop your skills to compose pieces of music utilising music technology.

While there is no formal examination to ‘perform’ on your instrument, it is likely that you will use it frequently within the activities mentioned above.

Entry requirements

GCSE’s at grade A*-C are generally required.
