Course description

Politics will be a new subject to the majority of you and therefore you may see it
as an opportunity to do something fresh and new, an enriching experience in
itself. Politics is particularly useful if you are considering a career in Law,
Journalism, Business/Retail Management, the Media or Civil Service. However the
knowledge and skills which the study of Politics will give you, will be welcomed by
any employer.

Government and Politics of the UK;

Government and Politics of USA and comparative politics;

Political Ideas.

What skills will I develop?

To develop a critical awareness of the nature of politics and the relationship between political ideas, institutions and processes.  To acquire knowledge and understanding of the structures of authority and power within the political system.  To acquire knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of individuals in order to encourage participation in society.
