It is not necessary to have studied the subject previously and there are no formal entry requirements. If not already gained, students will need to be working towards a minimum of C grade in English Language and/or Maths.
The Certificate in Financial Studies provides students with a challenging qualification covering financial capability. Learners are encouraged to become responsible borrowers, sensible savers, and have an appreciation of the need for financial planning throughout their life. Its purpose is to prepare students for further study through the development of the core skills of critical analysis and evaluation, synthesis, verbal communication and written communication. The course will form a good background not only for general life financial awareness but also for further study in the area of Business and Finance. The course will develop knowledge and understanding of the financial service sector.
