Course content

At AS there is no assessed coursework. Instead you will study for 2 exams:
- Practical Problem-Solving in the Digital World (1 ½ hr exam) – In this practical module you will investigate how ICT is used to solve problems for individuals, organisations and society. You will learn how to use a variety of new technologies including Wiki’s, Blogging, Media Editing, Website Authoring.

- Living in the Digital World (1 ½ hr exam) – In this theoretical module you will confront the numerous issues arising from the use of ICT for individuals, society and organisations. The issues change rapidly and, as ICT use becomes more and more widespread, these often involve environmental and ethical aspects. In this module you will learn how to understand the basic terms and concepts involved in the study of ICT, and to give a wider picture of the use of ICT.

The A2 course looks at developments in technology and capabilities of ICT, in relation to how these are used in organisations of different sizes and in the world as a whole. It also has a coursework module, assessed by a project that provides evidence of the ability to undertake a realistically sized project that involves a real user with a need for a solution to an ICT-related issue. This project will take place over an extended period of time.
