The theory behind the diploma is the belief that a chef needs to have a sound foundation of high quality skills and to be able to apply theses skills across a range of processes and techniques. The qualification gives you the skills and knowledge required to meet the modern needs of the industry. Please note, this route does not include any Front of House service skills.
You will enrol on a Diploma in Professional Cookery and follow a specific learning programme, completing a range of theoretical and practical task activities. Individuals will also receive a final grade for each unit to highlight areas of high achievement.
You will study all aspects of classical and modern professional food preparation, cookery and presentation. From meat to sweets, and everything in between.
Minimum entry requirements are prior catering qualifications at level 1 or have a passion for gaining culinary skills at this level. English and Maths at Level 1 or GCSEs Good study skills are required to answer the short answer question papers Reasonable ICT skills are required to be able to produce the written assignments
This course is 30% assignment based and 70% practical which requires a lot of self motivated study time to gain high grades. This course is Pass, Merit and Distinction which rewards hard work and effort.
