Mathematics (A Level) at Broadway Academy
A level Maths is based on 6 units of equal weighting.
Each unit is separately certified. The exam board is AQA.
In year 12 students study 3 units: purer core1, pure core 2 and Statistics 1.
In year 13 students study 3 units: pure core 3, pure core 4 and Statistics 2.
In the pure maths element of the course students study Algebra , Co-ordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Functions, Exponentials and Logarithms, Sequences and Series, Vectors and Numerical Methods.
In Statistics students study the Binomial Distribution, the Normal Distribution, Probability, Correlation and Regression, Poisson Distribution, Hypothesis testing, Chi-Square and Contingency Table Tests
All units of equal weighting. The AS level examinations are held at the end of year 12.
The A level examinations are held at the end of year 13.
A level Maths provides a foundation for further studies in a variety of subjects such as BSc courses in Mathematics, Engineering, Accountancy, Finance, Geography and Medicine.
