Course description

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Law and the Individual
Crime and its Effects
Driving & Collisions
Security

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs grade D or above including GCSE English. A BTEC Introductory Diploma (Distinction). A BTEC Introductory Diploma (Merit) plus GCSE English at grade D. A BTEC Introductory Certificate (Merit or Distinction) plus at least 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English. All applicants must have a good reference. Students also need to be self-motivated and have a keen interest in a career in the field of public service work.

Assessment

This course is assessed through a range of activities such as projects, presentations, teamwork and practical activities. Assessment is continuous and suited to candidates who prefer this method of assessment to final exams.

Future opportunities

Opportunities are available to gain entry into the Public Sector: Fire, Police, Army, Navy, Ambulance and the Prison Services. Entry on to higher courses such as the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Public Services is another option.
