Italian A level at St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College
Studying Italian AS is a good opportunity to develop communication skills and research about Italian culture. Learning Italian is an accomplishment which brings great satisfaction and added confidence.

Unit 1: Spoken expression and response in Italian;
Unit 2: Understanding and written response in Italian.

Minimum 6 GCSEs at grade A*- C (including English Language) for A Level study programmes.
Students are required to have the knowledge understanding and skills required for GCSE at Higher Tier. There is no particular experience needed for the course, everyone who have interest in languages can choose the course.
Unit 1- Students will need to demonstrate that they can engage in a discussion in Italian that relates to chosen general topic area and allied subtopics. Students will be expected to give relevant and appropriate information, convey opinions, interact and respond to a range of questions.
Unit 2 requires students to understand and convey their understanding of Italian language texts and recordings. In addition, students will need to produce an essay to demonstrate an ability to manipulate the Italian language in continuous writing. Students will be expected to recognize and use the Italian language in a variety of contexts and in relation to a prescribed range of general topic areas.
By completing homework students are able to see what has to be improved. To reach higher grade: regular attendance, punctuality, 3 hours of private study per week, an interest in current affairs and regular attendance at classes.
Knowing Italian is a great benefit in several career fields. Italy is a world leader in fashion, graphic design, space engineering and culinary arts.
Many employers seek people who speak both Italian and English Languages.
