This two year course is aimed at Level 3 students who have not learned Japanese before.
In the first year, you will study towards the Level 1 Certificate and then move on to the full GCSE in the second year.
You develop sound listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in a wide variety of situations. You acquire a broad vocabulary and master a range of basic structures whilst learning about Japan. You will master the basics of the Japanese language including its fascinating script and find out more about the culture behind it.

Grades 9-4 in English and Maths, grade A*-B in a language GCSE and two or more GCSEs at grades A*-C. Students MUST be studying a Level 3 programme to take this qualification.

Students may wish to continue their Japanese studies at a higher level whilst in higher education.
Students will benefit from the subject, which complements many other studies. Students will also be able to practice their abilities with other students in written, verbal and other forms of communication.
