Music Technology at Dyson Perrins CofE Academy

Course description

In the Music Technology department we have a range of recording equipment and facilities, including various microphones, sound recording rooms and Cubase recording and editing soſtware installed on all the computers in the Music rooms.
These tools enable students to produce high quality recordings and help them to learn and understand the basics of computer based sound engineering. Students are also able to learn the basics of live sound engineering and operating soundboards for Music events held at Dyson Perrins.

AS Level Unit 1 - Music Technology Portfolio 1 (70%)
* Task A: Sequenced Realised Performance
* Task B: Multi-track recording
* Task C: Creative Sequenced Arrangements

Unit 2 - Listening and Analysing (30%). 1 hour 45 minute listening exam

A2 Level

Unit 3 - Music technology portfolio (70%)
* Task A: Sequenced integrated performance
* Task B: Media track recording* Task C: Composing using music technology.

Unit 4 - Analysing and Producing (30%)2 hour examination using computer based technology.

Entry requirements

There are no qualification requirements for the course however a basic knowledge of musical notation and instrumental skills would be a distinct advantage. MIDI input is via a keyboard controller so a rudimentary knowledge of the keyboard would be of benefit.
