Engineering Level 2 Pre- Apprenticeship Programme (Fabrication and Welding) at Stoke on Trent College

Course description

The Level 2 Pre-Apprenticeship in Engineering will develop the knowledge and skills you need to progress towards an Engineering Apprenticeship and a career in engineering. You will cover essential subjects such as principles of engineering or welding. On completion of this study programme you will be awarded with an NVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations in Fabrication and Welding or Engineering Manufacturing as well as Maths or English functional skills or GCSE's.

Course content

The Level 2 Pre-Apprenticeship in Engineering will develop the knowledge and skills you need to progress towards an Engineering Apprenticeship and a career in engineering. You will cover essential subjects such as principles of engineering or welding. On completion of this study programme you will be awarded with a Level 2 NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations, as well as appropriate Maths and English functional skills or GCSE's.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade D or above including Maths, BTEC Level 1/Introductory Certificate or Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 1, or another relevant Level 1 or Foundation qualification. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.

Assessment

The course requires students to demonstrate their skills by successfully completing practical assessments and answering online theory questions for all the units that make up the qualifications.

Future opportunities

Engineering Level 3 Pre-Apprenticeship Programme or BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.

City and Guilds is a nationally recognised vocational qualification which provides the background knowledge and skills in a specific work related area. City and Guilds courses are arranged in a series of modules which can be credited individually or combined with other modules to form certificates and diplomas.
