Carpentry and Joinery (Bench) Level 3 at Hull College Group

Course description

This course progresses the skills already learnt and aims to improve your chance of employability within this growing and exciting trade.  We offer a wide range of resources that include:

  • dedicated workshop and classrooms
  • IT rooms and specialist software
  • construction laboratory and surveying equipment

Students will study topics such as making doors, windows and staircases.

You will also have to work towards a GCSE or a Functional Skill in Maths and English.

  • Health and Safety
  • Complex Doors
  • Complex Windows
  • Complex Stairs
  • Machine Woodwork

Entry requirements

Must have completed Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery.


Course Content: 70% and 30% Theory.

Financial information

Students will also be required to purchase a Hull College polo shirt for the course (approx. £8).  Information regarding this will be provided at interview.

Future opportunities

After the Level 3, you may decide to take further qualifications (BTECs).  You can progress to a career as a manager or supervisor, quantity or building surveyor or a site agent.

Further information

You will need stationery and safety footwear. Safety footwear must be worn in all workshops. We do not allow the use of safety trainers.
