ICCD CAD for Jewellery Fast Track Level 3 Diploma at British Academy of Jewellery

Course description

More than just a CAD or design course, Industry Certified CAD Diploma (or ICCD) is designed to give students a solid foundation of professional level design, production management, and CAD/CAM tools they will need if they wish to work in bespoke design or larger scale jewellery production.

The ICCD Fast Track course takes the CAD/CAM elements from the full ICCD and presents them in an intensive format, for bench jewellers and designers keen to apply their existing knowledge of manufacturing and design drawing into Computer-Aided Design and rapid prototyping.
The full ICCD takes around 5 months to complete (on a two day per week basis) but if you already have advanced design drawing and bench skills, you will only need to do the 14 day fast track version, attending two days a week for 7 weeks.

Course content

The ICCD Fast Track assumes you have a good level of knowledge about design drawing and manufacturing (equal to the Level 3 Jewellery Manufacturing Diploma), and really just need to focus on the using your existing skills in CAD/CAM.

What happens on the course?
  • Learn to use Gemvision Matrix 3D jewellery CAD software.
  • Create jewellery models for manufacture using Computer Aided Design based upon your own design drawings.
  • Create photorealistic renders of your CAD models for sales or building your portfolio
  • Learn how concepts of metallurgy apply when working with cast and assembled jewellery
  • Understand new manufacturing technologies
Upon completion of the course, you will have the skills and confidence to not only be able to design and visualise your jewellery both on paper and in CAD, but also to communicate to other manufacturers and casters to get your jewellery made.
What do I get?
Training from qualified and industry professionals
Full access to our CAD workshop on Friday open access days
Discounted access to the rapid prototyping and casting services at Jewellery Innovations
Help and support before, during and after the course
Impartial advice and guidance on the software and hardware that’s right for you
