Design and Technology (Product Design) - A2 Level at RR6 Wimbledon

Course description

Why study Product Design? This course is ideal for students wishing to combine theory and practical activities. You will develop understanding of contemporary design and technological practices and consider the uses and effects of new technologies and modern materials. What topics will I study? This dynamic course will look in depth at the role of the designer, the use of modern materials and digital media, and utilising CAD/CAM technologies to design and manufacture graphic products. How will I be assessed? You will be examined in product study and advanced innovation. At A2 students will be examined on their ability to design, make and evaluate, and product design. The AS/A Level will be assessed via 2/4 units respectively. There will be one piece of controlled assessment in each year and one public examination. An example/illustration of the type of work involved: You will: initiate design solutions; develop, test and trial working models and prototypes; develop and sustain imagination, innovation and flair when working with concepts and materials.
