Course description

What’s in the exam?

AS Unit 1:

  • Section A- One comparative essay question on a named poem from the studied collection, plus a free choice of second poem
  • Section B- Drama: one essay question (2 hours)

AS Unit 2:

  • Prose: one comparative essay question from a choice of two on the studied theme. (1 hour)

Course content

You will study aspects of the form of drama, dramatic devices and the shaping of meanings. You will explore thematic links between prose texts from pre- and post- 1900. You will study a selection of poems applying your knowledge of poetic form, content and meaning.

Entry requirements

You should have a B grade in English Language.
